1-7 Church Mews, Bamber Bridge
Houses
This mews, completed in 2004, is tucked away between the two Willowwood developments on the road frontage, and is built to the same standard and style as 30-38 Church Road.
With lots of trees all around, and a naturalised stream, this development has taken much care to consider it's environmental surroundings, including establishing a wildlife corridor.
We have added holly and yew to encourage nestings birds. We have ducks (which nest by the stream), yellow wagtails, a variety of tits, goldfinches and even a pair of barn owls, which we believe nests in the church next door.
I am pleased to see the same pair of ducks has returned for the fourth year. They are easy to recognise because the drake is a mallard, but his mate is a white duck. Having a wildlife corridor encourages small mammals such as various voles, rabbits and hedgehogs. These then encourage predators such as the owls we even sometimes see a wild (as apposed to an urban) fox. Not to everyone’s liking but insect life usually includes at least one wasp’s nests, with the wasps seen to be working hard cleaning insects and their larvae off the surrounding vegetation and trees.
